Tonight’s speaker was Eileen Heasley. Eileen is a member of the Troy Rotary and is a retired kindergarten teacher. She has been involved in the water project since 2004 and most recently has been working in Lebanon. Eileen and her husband started with 1 orphanage focusing on the cultural needs of that region. Her relationship has grown to where they now call her the "American Angel". She also presented some global statistics; 750 million people lack safe drinking water with more than 850,000 people dying each year. Over the past 10 yrs. Eileen and her husband have provided safe drinking water to 300,000 people in over 20 schools and have trained 150 others to do similar work. There are local grants in process in the US to help fund this project.
