The Cause

Over the past twenty-four years "Shoes for Kids" has provided for over 10,500 Clarkston children and the community has generously donated over $300,000. The Rotary Club of Clarkston greatly appreciatives the support shown by the volunteers such as yourself, both in commitment and donations.

The Event

The 2023 "Shoes for Kids" will be held on Saturday, November 11th, at Renaissance High School, 6558 Waldon Road.

We greatly appreciate your continued support and volunteering in the past.

Please consider asking people you know, family, business associates, friends or neighbors to join you in volunteering for such a worthwhile community service project helping Clarkston children.

"SHOES FOR KIDS" VOLUNTEEERS NEEDED - PLEASE JOIN US !!

The Rotary Club of Clarkston's 43rd annual "Shoes for Kids" program will provide Clarkston Community School children with new shoes, winter boots, hats and gloves.

On Friday night, November 10th, we will be setting up inventories from about 4:00 PM until about 8:30 PM. 30 volunteers are needed.

On Saturday, November 11th, "Shoes for Kids" will be hosting over 350 Clarkston School children between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM in groups of 25 to 30 every half hour. We have over 130 volunteer time slots throughout Saturday in two hour increments. There are various assignments including chair positions. After the event, 25 volunteers will be needed after 3:00 PM to help re-box the inventory, move tables and chairs.

The Clarkston Optimist Club provide new socks through their "Opti-Socks" program. The Clarkston Area Lions Club will offer "Project Kidsight" free eye exams. Local dentists will be donating toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be making a special early visit to Clarkston.We greatly appeciate the efforts of Melvin and Alaina Hawley for their commitment. Photos with Santa will also be available to all attending families. Photos will be taken by Bertakis Products (a local professional photographer).

This is a great opportunity for high school students or others needing Community Service Volunteer Hours

All volunteers are asked to sign-in at the volunteer check-in table least ten minutes before the beginning of their shift. A brief orientation and walk-through will be offered before beginning each shift. 

Food and drinks will be made available throughout the day to volunteers working including those working multiple times.

Newspaper Sales

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP SELL ROTARY NEWSPAPERS!!

The Rotary Club of Clarkston will be holding it's annual newspaper sales for donations on local street intersections and in front of local businesses on Friday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 4th from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM (2 hour shifts). Other dates in November & December are also available

100% of the donations received fund the Rotary Club of Clarkston's "Shoes for Kids" program at Renaissance High School on Saturday, November 11th and provides Clarkston school children with new winter boots, shoes, hats and gloves.

NOTE: Signups are listed: Fri. 11/3 & Sat. 11/4, Fri. 11/17,  Sat. 11/18 and Sat. 12/2 & Sun 12/3

There are a total of 116 street timeslots and 29 building/event timeslots available for volunteers. Ask a friend, family member, neighbor to join you, have fun collecting donations, and help the children of Clarkston.

Neiman's Family Market (Dixie Hwy @ White Lake Rd.) Fri. 11/3, Sat. 11/4, Fri.11/17 & Sat.11/18 9AM to 5PM

Chamber of Commerce Christmas Market @ Baycourt Brady Lodge Sat. 11/18 12PM to 4PM

Christmas Craft Show @ CHS Sat. 12/2 9AM to 4PM & Sun. 12/3 10AM to 4PM

All volunteers for Fri. Nov 3rd and Sat. Nov 4th are asked to go to the Clarkston Village City Hall DPW Garage (in Depot Park), 375 Depot Rd. and check-in 10 to 15 minutes before their shift. Newspapers, newspaper bags, collection canisters, and yellowr safety vests are available. Confirmation and reminder emails will be sent.

Arrangements for all other locations will be made directly with those volunteers signing up depending on location, date and time.

Food and drinks will be provided at the Village DPW garage for those volunteering to sell newspapers
